Terrain parks

Studys show that terrain parks aren't as dangerous as people think!

Since the growth in terrain parks in the last 20 years the injury rate amongst skiers has actually decreased!

What does this mean!?  Time to get big and shred up the terrain park and show your friends whats up!!

yaaa

Get up!

mornin breeeze

whats up doods...great day to go skiing, its cold and snow has been fallen everywhere!

be careful though...after reading up on skiing, nearly every single headline talks about the number of fatalities that have occurred this year while skiing...never good...

What up Lindss

As we all the winter season has gotten off to a unreal start. Snow is everywhere!  Ski resorts on the west coast have already receives more than 100% of their expected annual snow fall...and its only January. HAHA!!

Unfortunately.. the ski season has gotten off to a pretty deadly start.  Ten people have died inbounds at ski locations since December 18th.  This is not good... as a skier...you shouldn't be as concerned as snowboarders.  9 out of the 10 deaths were snowboarders.  (researchers think that snowboarders are more likely to die because they tend to be aggressive young males who live off adrenaline rush!)  I think both skiers and boarders both thrive off adrenaline...

Furthermore...since the 1970's, the snowboarders death rate is about 1/3 lower than for skiers.  The injury rate for snowboarders is about twice that as the rate for skiers.  After looking deeper into this, the primary way you die while skiing or boarding is by sliding into something - like a tree or rock.  Snowboarders can't get out of their bindings so they act like a giant mass just plowing into objects, whereas skiers can lean back and slide in hope that their skis detach.

The yearly ski/snowboard fatality rate average has been at about 40.  Let try and get this number lower people.  Here are some things I recommend to play it safe..

1.  Wear a helmet
2. Always look to see who is around you, so you don't cut them off, or run into them, especially snowboarders since you have a huge blindside.
3.  Only ski areas that you feel comfortable with.  Don't force yourself down glades just because your friends are doing it.
4.  Scope out your runs.  If you are going to do some tree skiing or some backcountry...make sure you check it out either on the chairlift or do a slow run through to identify rocks, trees, and to see if the powder isn't too beat up.
5.  Ski on the sides of runs, don't take up the whole mountain.  If you take up the whole mountain it's hard for people to get around you...that's when people get dead.  So be courteous and use the edges of the runs.
6.  Have fun, and don't think about getting hurt.  If you think you are gunna get hurt, you are gunna get hurt..so just have fun out their, be smart and you'll be fine.

Dont be this guy!
